Three York College of Pennsylvania 2017 Graduates Win National Broadcast Awards

Several students associated with York College's WVYC student radio station were winners in the 2017 College Broadcasters, Inc. (CBI) National Student Production Awards. The Best PSA-Video entry, a promo for the College's physical education program, was created by Heather Kline '17, a mass communications graduate from Woodbridge, Va. Best Special Broadcast-Video, "Ehlers Danos Syndrome - Patient Stories," was created by Brie Dadich '17, a mass communications and fine art graduate from Abingdon, Md. Best Special Broadcast-Audio, "Poland Abroad Travelogue - Amanda Stagg," was created by Amanda Stagg '17, a mass communications graduate from Downingtown, MD. Winners were announced at CBI's annual Awards Ceremony in November in San Antonio, TX.

Senior Mitchell Nease Directs 'Speech & Debate' as Capstone Project

Senior theatre major Mitchell Nease of Harrisburg directs the second show of York College's season, "Speech & Debate" by Stephen Karam, as his theatre major senior capstone event. This comedic look at the high school experience runs Nov. 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m., with a Nov. 11 3 p.m. matinee in York College's black box theatre in the Waldner Performing Arts Center. Tickets are free, but seating is limited and can be reserved at www.ycp.edu/theatre.

Eight York College of Pennsylvania Students Named University Innovation Fellows

The University Innovation Fellows program empowers students to become agents of change at their schools. The Fellows are a global community of students leading a movement to ensure that all students gain the necessary attitudes, skills and knowledge required to compete in the economy of the future. These student leaders from schools around the country create new opportunities that help their peers develop an entrepreneurial mindset, build creative confidence, seize opportunities, define problem sand address global challenges. Fellows are creating student innovation spaces, founding entrepreneurship organizations, hosting experiential events, and working with faculty and administrators to develop courses. They serve as advocates for lasting institutional change with academic leaders and represent their schools at national events. Eisenhart Scholarship Recipients Named

The Eisenhart Community Engagement Scholars Program educates, prepares, and inspires students to become agents of change in their communities and society. Students will be given mentored opportunities to study and develop genuine partnerships with local community agencies over the course of their time in the program. The program encourages students to pursue their interests and to meet their educational goals while making a difference in the greater York community. In addition, the program will nurture students' skills in management, community organizing, leadership, networking, fundraising, and other skills that can apply to whatever profession they choose.

Selection as a member of Kappa Delta Pi is based on high academic achievement, a commitment to education as a career, and a professional attitude that assures steady growth in the profession. At York College of Pennsylvania, members must earn Pre-Professional Education Status (PPES) and have an overall GPA of a 3.5.
